We’ve speculated for about a decade now that with the rise of robotics and increased automation, part of the labor market would undergo an inevitable shift. While AI applications can, in some cases, reduce the burden of physical labor, we still need people to develop and manage the machines. Even so, the labor market doesn’t seem to be keeping pace. With AI, employees become managers and with that comes the need of developing a new set of skills.

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to welcome various key business leaders as they share with participants their view on the talent gap that may be holding up the adoption of machine learning and AI in marketing and offer suggestions on how the gap might be bridged.

Agenda:

15:30-16:00 Registration and Networking

16:00-16:10 Opening words by Rosanna Terminio, Chair of the Human Resources Working Group, European
Chamber

16:10-16:30 The Role of Emotional Intelligence in AI by Dr Eveline Goodmann, Phd. Psychology &
Neuroscience

16:30-17:10 Interactive panel discussion and Q&A with top business leaders

There is no reason to believe that leadership will be spared of the impact of AI. How do the leaders of
today see the role of a successful leader in times of AI? What skills do we all need to thrive in a AI-
driven future?

Moderator: Dr Eveline Goodmann,

Panellists:

Ms Celina Chew, President, Bayer Greater China

Member Training Program: The Neuroscience of Change

This interactive workshop draws on the science of the brain to understand how we process change.

Participants will gain a better understanding of themselves and others around them – as well as how to work in order to generate positive and lasting change. With this new self-knowledge and understanding, participants will become more effective managers, team-members, and leaders.

During the workshop, Eveline Goodman will translate neuroscientific insights into practical, actionable steps. Participants in this workshop will learn how the brain works, how personal change occurs, and how they can use this knowledge to increase their own and their office’s productivity. Regardless of the industry you work in, creating meaningful change begins with understanding yourself, and only then should it involve managing other people – this workshop will provide you with the tools to succeed at each step.

Neuroscience is particularly useful for understanding the differences and similarities between generations and different working styles. Eveline Goodman will explain how managers can adjust their approach to appeal to millennials, and how millennials can become even more effective workers and managers.

Session Outline

By completing this workshop, you will:

  • Learn neuroscientific insights into how the human brain work, and how to use this knowledge to build better, more cooperative teams.
  • Use neuroscience insights to support more effective communication which might allow you to communicate with team members of any background or age.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in your own brain, and draw on neuroplasticity to learn new skills fast while avoiding cognitive bias.

Plus, participants will have the opportunity to undergo voluntary brain-link and stress testing, where cortisol and dopamine levels will be assessed by state-of-the-art measurement devices.

Executives, managers and professionals who want to learn about how they can use neuroscience insights in their professional lives
